about coastal training

Coastal Training was created to meet the urgent need for specialist support, expertise and guidance for those working with children and young people.

Practitioners deserve training grounded in real experience, especially when facing complex, overwhelming or high‑risk presentations.

After the Iron Mill College in Exeter closed this May, I was determined to continue this vital work and ensure practitioners still accessed specialist training.

Coastal Training equips CYP practitioners with confidence, clarity and creative approaches that genuinely support their work.

With decades of frontline experience, I offer practical, relational expertise that helps practitioners feel supported, confident and well equipped for the vital work they do.

my creative approach

COASTAL TRAINING

Play, the Creative Arts, image, metaphor and imagination sit at the heart of my practice, training and supervision, not as extras, but as essential therapeutic languages.

These creative modes bridge the conscious and subconscious, helping us access and express deeply held feelings and sensations so they can be understood, processed and safely integrated.

Creativity makes the invisible visible, giving children and young people a voice when words alone aren’t enough.

my experience and qualifications

I led the Post‑Qualifying Children and Young People’s Counselling Diploma at the Iron Mill College in Exeter for six years, where I also jointly lectured on the Integrative Counselling Degree accredited by Worcester University.

I currently work as a Child and Adolescent Therapist within a highly skilled multi‑disciplinary team at Epic Solutions in Exeter, supported by my Emotional Support Dog, Ebony, who brings comfort, regulation and connection to the children I work with.

I hold a BSc in Sociology/Psychology, an MA in Social Work, a Postgraduate Diploma in Play and Creative Arts Therapy, Diplomas in Creative Clinical Supervision and Creative CBT, alongside specialist training in Neurodivergence.
